Since Nightafall is around the corner, Cantha will be one huge ghost town and the remaining population won't let you into their groups. Bad choice.

assassins can survive with just using assassin skills, so pick and choose, if you fail you can always change it at senjis later in the game.

Way2go to double post.
Way2go to scare off a new guy like that Demesis.
I'd go A/Rt, because it allows you to take flesh of my flesh, a re-useable res.
If you go A/Mo, it makes you look like a noob, and you will probably end up like one. ( using mending, live vicarously, vig spirit and other consorts )

You can run A/N with Life Siphon, Plague Touch and Well of Blood. Helps you with survivability and conditions, helps your team mates with taking down enemies and you have a good health regen support in the form of Well of Blood. Plus you can still fit in some damaging combos if you want to.

Sorry, but it's a very brutal truth I had to accept myself since witnessing the downfall of the Tyrian population.
I literally mourn that my assassin will become absolutely useless once nightfall comes out. It'll get slaughtered by the dervishes. Just trying to tell the new guy to cut his losses when it's early. :/

If the guy decides to make a sin, it's his own choice.

Didn't say he couldn't. Just letting him know what to expect and the consequences when he makes one this late in the game :/ It's a very steep uphill battle.

A/Mo, use retribution and concentrate on Assassin skills only (Critical Strike attribute, Dagger Mastery attribute, and Shadow Skills attribute).
Healing Prayers is a no, no. It makes you want to tank, so don't bother with it. Retribution gives small damage to anyone who attacks you with non-spells. There are attacks that give you more energy or does more damage if you are enchanted (and equip a set of daggers that also do more damage when you are enchanted). You also get mend ailment (removes blindness) and Resurrect or Resurrection Chant.
A/Rit, weapon spells, spirit summoning (can use a teleport spell to teleport you to that spirit - away from the fray), hard rez (lively was Naomei or Flesh of my Flesh, etc.), little heal (like Mend over body, weapon of warding, etc.)
A/W, gives you more defense (watch yourself, bonetti's defense, etc.), again, don't stay in the fight too long.
A/R, critical barrager build, summon spirit, removes blindness (disease and poison).
A/E, increases defense (earth magic), blinds (blinding flash)
A/Me, condition spreader
A/N, transfers some conditions to foes (plague touch, plague sending, etc.), increases damage (curses), weakens foes (curses), etc.
Tyria is not a ghost town. Canthas will not be a ghost town either. Tyrians in Tyria love assassins (due to the fact not everyone knows the weakness of the assassin and the fact that assassins can do very well vs monsters in Tyria). You can go buy Nightfall and try the Assassin there as well.
Remember, there are some skills that do well when enemies are hexed (necromancer, mesmer, elementalist) so you can consider them for that too.
Hope this helps.

Just trying to offer some assistance Skuld. Where's your contribution on this page apart from trying to get off on offering useless information?
Secondaries are there to enhance the capabilities of the primary class, as well as make up for its weaknesses. It's not just there to be aesthetically pleasing. Warriors do it with Healing Hands and Purge Conditions, Rangers do it with a necro secondary (Touchies). Why dont you go tell them to make a monk or necro as well while you're at it.
With Life Siphon, Well of Blood and Plague Touch on an assassin, you address all of the PvE shortcomings the class currently has, i.e. survivability, team support, condition removal, etc. Many other classes make use of secondaries to get through certain quests, missions, etc. Why dont you go tell them to stick to their primaries.
Here's some advice for you: Why dont you go make yourself useful.

A/N with plague touch and or mark of pain or SS is nice for the aoe dmg buffing + in pve it become a slight issue from aoe trigger.
or conditions with virulance can stack up to -17 degen as a A/N while being energy effective.
A/RT with resilient weapon or weapon of warding + weilders boon.
A/W watch yourself + bonetti for healing cover. ( not reccommended )
A/R Barrage + tigers fury. YAY your a critical barrager. ( Got Pet )
A/E KD Shock build ( PvP ) maybe bring ward against melee and create your own ward in PvE.
A/ME again a PvP build either echo shadow form or a faragility condition spiker. Not bad but an advanced build.
A/? look up mobious chain.
My Favorite......
A/MO....... Wanna play like a noob and survive?.....LIFE SHEATH.
........... Wanna be a more active w/o burdening your monk?..LIFE SHEATH.
.......... Wanna increase the effectivness of your spike managment?..LIFE SHEATH.
......... Wanna use something other then the typical AoD or Mobious chain assassins are cookie cuttered to due to design flaw?.....LIFE SHEATH!!!!
Sin is flawed but played right can be a good single target spiker and monk defense. Just be smart and realize your a 70 AL melee class that dmges like a 60 AL caster.
Enjoy kid.
PS dont mind the ego flames around here... They are just making themselves feel better about what they lack in life.

You stole my idea.
If you have an open character slot, why not try something new out? I used a slot to create a rit, and now I'm having tons of fun using farm builds, or spirit spamming in missions.
